Preparing for Easter
"He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise" (Luke 24:6-7, ESV).
He is risen! Christ's sacrifice upon the cross conquered death, and when we believe in Him, we will have eternal life with Him. This is why we celebrate Easter. But more importantly, because of the life we have in Him, we should be celebrating every day, praising and thanking our Heavenly Father for all that He has done.
It truly is reason to celebrate. It is such an important time that people who may not regularly go to church consider this one of those times of year that they really should attend. There is also a large group who simply haven't decided or even thought about whether or not they will go to church on Easter. This is an opportunity for believers to share what Easter is all about. It is also an opportunity to invite others to church.
This Easter, we will be having a Good Friday service on Friday, March 25 at 6pm. We will also have an Easter Egg Hunt for our children on Saturday, March 26 at 10am. That event will be a fun way for children to hear about Jesus and is for children up to 5th grade. We will also have our regularly scheduled worship services on Sunday morning. I hope to see you there. Invite your friends.
There is a lot going on this month. I do want to add a special thank you to all who have been helping with our sanctuary renovations. It's been incredible seeing all the help thus far. I also want to thank those who are financially providing for this project. It’s great to see our church working together. Mahalo nui loa.
One final note: on Monday, March 21, we will be having a church-wide day of prayer and fasting. I understand that we often read about fasting in Scripture but seldom put it to practice. I also understand that there are those with health concerns or other issues that make it problematic to abstain from food. For those, perhaps food could be replaced by some other activity that day. The point is for church family to come together and intentionally be in prayer. There's a lot going on in our nation and there are so many things to be praying about. We will be providing additional details in the coming weeks. I hope that you will participate with us.
