Youth Summer Adventures
July is over?! Where does the time go?
We had some pretty big things happen in our group! We went to camp in the beginning of the month and we led both Sunday morning worship services on Youth Sunday.
Camp was a blast! We had 12 of our youth attend. It was a week full of activities, worship
services, digging into God's Word, and spiritual breakthroughs over on the west side of the island at Pu'u Kahea Conference Center. As we studied 1 Peter 2:9-10 that week, we learned who we are as followers of Jesus and how God sees us. During that week I witnessed God working in each of our youth's lives as well as the other youth and leaders at the camp. God really made Himself present and it was amazing to see walls being broken down. We were also able to build relationships with the other youth groups from around the island! On our service day we held a free event in a park near the camp grounds. While we were there we were able to share who Jesus is to some of the locals from the Waianae area and just talk story with them. It was awesome to see the youth step out of their comfort zones, take what they know about the Gospel, and share it with people they just met.
When we got back from camp we had exactly one week to prepare for Youth Sunday. Let me tell you, it was a crazy week! But with the help of all of our leaders and with the hard work of our youth, we did it! It was during that week leading up to that Sunday that we put everything in God’s hands and let Him take control. And He truly delivered!! Thank you, church family, for all of your feedback on our service and for all of your encouraging and lovely comments!!
With school starting back up this month, please keep our youth in your prayers. It’s easy for us to fall back into a routine and into our old ways. Pray that they’ll stand firm in their faith, that they’ll be courageous, that they won’t be afraid of being different, and that they put Christ first. We will always have our Wednesday night Bible Studies and Sunday School on Sunday mornings! Stay plugged in!!
Also, our summer intern, Bailie, has made it safely back to Arkansas! She was such a blessing to our group this summer and we miss her already! On the flip side, Caleb Dunbar has joined our team this summer as an intern! Welcome to the Ohana! He has been a huge blessing to our group and I’m excited to see what God has in store for this next season for our youth group!!
